[Well that was embarrassing! Kenzi had, for a moment, forgot where she was and thought she was calling Bo. Instead she got Gil, talk about rude wake up to reality. She hung up quickly because she didn't want to explain she called because she thought she was calling Bo. God, she missed her best friend. Admitting it to people just made it hurt more.

At least that's over now, right? She won't have to explain anything.

She flops down on the couch with some chips and starts flipping through the channels. She just wants to find something boring to watch and fall asleep now.]

[ He takes out his communicator to look at the time display and then shakes his head. ]

I guess if your roommate doesn't come back for a while, I'll stay here. [ Drunks sometimes end up with headaches or vomiting and he doesn't want to leave her to stumble around for the toilet.

Or worse, sneak off for more vodka. ]

[wisecracked]

[In that case, Kenzi flops over on the bed and gives him a pathetic look.]

Then will you lay here with me?

[ He blinks, staring at her like she's sprouted and extra head or two. ]

[ Next to her? Her who is a she. She who is a woman. ]

[ No, she's drunk and spouting crazy now. ]

[Kenzi simply stares back at him. His reaction makes no sense to her.]

What? You've never shared a bed with anyone before? It's just laying here. Not like any hanky-panky will be going on.

Not that I wouldn't enjoy such things. [That last bit was probably unnecessary.]

How much did you drink again?! That's-- what you're asking is inappropriate!

[ He doesn't lay in bed with random women, even if random women are actually friends of his. ]

[wisecracked]

[It's her turn to stare at him like he's grown an extra head.]

How's it inappropriate? We both got clothes on. [Not that there weren't still several ways it could be inappropriate even with clothes on. But she's keeping that thought for herself.]

[ Gil would have melted into a puddle if he heard such ideas. ]

I-It's not about that only! [ Bodies so close and she's-- ] You're a woman!

[wisecracked]

And? [She's not seeing the problem here.]

Don't just invite men into your bed!

[wisecracked]

I'm not. I'm just inviting a friend into my bed. To keep me company. Because...

[She gives a huff and buries her face into the pillow to keep herself from saying anymore.]

[ He holds his breath, noticing the change of tone. ]

[ He steps a bit closer, looking uncertain. ]

What is it? Are you crying?!

[ What has he done?! ]

[wisecracked]

I'm homesick okay! [She manages to pull her face away from the pillow enough to say that.] I miss Bobo. I miss...having someone to cuddle with when I'm upset. [Because Bo's always been there for that unless she was busy "cuddling" someone else.]

[invoking]

[ He raises his arms as if to shush and calm her at once. He hasn't a clue what to say to make her feel better. He's just as homesick, but he doesn't turn to drinking. He's starting to wonder if this has been going on a while. ]

I'm sorry. I understand, though...

[wisecracked]

[Somehow the realization that others are just as homesick makes her feel even worse. But for nearly two years now she hasn't been away from Bo for more than a week. It's hard to imagine being away from her and yet she's been doing just that for months now.

Why is it hitting her so hard now?]

Then you'll...lay with me?

I didn't say that...

[ But to provide some comfort, he does take a seat on the edge of the bed. He's actually rather concerned. ]

[invoking]

[ Gil averts his gaze momentarily. It's actually hard to see someone upset. He's never been good with words. Actions, well, he doesn't often get a chance. Socializing is not something he prioritized, so these situations are almost foreign to him.

It's different than dealing with an upset Sharon or Oz, or Vincent, even. He knows those two especially well enough to figure out how to console them in ways they appreciated.

With Kenzi, he's just not sure how to approach this. ]

We won't be here always. [ He has to tell himself this everyday. ]

[wisecracked]

[With Kenzi it's all comfort food, booze, and/or physical contact. But physical contact with just anyone isn't what works. She only wants to be close to those she trusts, those she considers friends. And Gil is one of them.]

I...know. [She shifts a bit on the bed to move closer to him.] It's just...been months without my bestie. [She blinks a couple times to clear her vision.]

[invoking]

[ He slowly inhales, the TV still going on in the other room. He can't make out what's being said. It's just noise in the background while he sits silent, picking at the words in his head. ]

I know it's hard.

But... I think you're stronger than you give yourself credit for.

[wisecracked]

No...no I'm not. It's like...it's like I'm missing a part of me. [Yeah, that's how dependent she is on Bo.]

[invoking]

[ A hand presses against his own chest unconsciously. What she describes, he feels, too.

And it feels like a hole growing in size the longer he's here. ]

As someone told me not too long ago... we have to continue living. Until our time here is done.

[wisecracked]

It's hard though. [No, she's no suicidal, she never has been. And there's no point in it in this places. But it is hard to just go on with each day. Sure she hasn't given up hope that Bo will turn up there or she'll return home. But returning home isn't something she really wants. Sure she misses her friends but she has friends here she doesn't want to leave behind.]
