Aw, too bad. You should always try to find out as much as you can about your employers, y'know, just in case you gotta use it against them. [She grins and takes a a drink of water.]

Do you like ballet, then?

[ He jumps at the suggestion, hardly entertained by it. ]

What?! I could never do that to Ms. Natasha!

Yeah. I used to dance when I was younger, I was even in a production of Swan Lake.

[She gives a little laugh.] Okay, maybe not blackmail but it's a good idea so you know what kind of person you're working for. Wouldn't it suck if it turned out you were working for a crazy killer this whole time?

[ He'll get back to the dancing in a bit, but he needs to make it clear Natasha Romanov is not a psychopath. ]

She's a kind lady! A very -- [ he considers for a few seconds ] elegant, gentle, intelligent woman.

She's hardly an indecent person.

Hey, even the seemingly nicest people can be psychopaths. They just cover it up very well. Trust me on that.

Ms. Natasha isn't like that!

[ He huffs again, noticing the couple at the table closest to them have turned their heads to see what the fuss is about. He sinks back in his seat as the waiter returns with Kenzi's appetizers, forcing a smile, clearly noting the two are in some kind of argument. As soon as she's made sure they're both set, she takes off again. ]

Don't accuse people of strange things when you don't know them. [ He rolls his eyes. ] A dangerous person doesn't offer to take others out to an expensive lunch.

[Kenzi offer the server a smile, she waits until she's gone before leaning in toward Gil.]

Actually, they do. And I'm not saying she is but you never know with people, better to be safe than sorry. Trust me, I've met a lot of people that seemed nice but turned out to be totes cray.

[With that said she turns to appetizers that have been set in the middle of the table; some fried calamari (only because she's curious), shrimp cocktail, and some smoked mushrooms.] Hmm, which to start with?

She's been nothing but kind to me. [ When they swapped powers, when he had been dead... she said it herself once: she wasn't a slave driver. ]

I don't want you saying these things about my boss.

A'ight, a'ight. Fine. She's a saint. A perfectly good woman that's probably never done a bad thing in her life.

[She rolls her eyes and snags up a piece of the fried calamari. She turns it over before popping it in her mouth and chewing slowly. Her expression quickly changes to a scowl, grossed out by the rubbery texture. She quickly grabs up her napkin and spits the calamari into it.] Oh barf, gross.

[ The stalking comes back to his mind, but he doesn't say anything.

And anyway -- his attention is diverted when he sees her spitting out food into a napkin. He grimaces in disgust. ]

Are you okay--?! [ Why did she spit out food?! Oh god, that couple is still watching. ]

[The couple that won't stop watching the two of them soon finds their drinks exploding on their table. Kenzi does her best to act like she didn't do it, but Gil would know better when his hand starts to sting.]

Yeah, I just don't think I like calamari. [She sets her napkin aside and decides that shrimp is a safe route, she likes shrimp.]

[ There's definitely a scream or two and the rushed footsteps of a couple of servers on their way to see what just happened.

Gil's hand jerks unpleasantly under the table and his head whips in the direction of the explosion. Nobody seems to have noticed his reaction, all focused on the couple's table and the glass and liquid all over the table and a bit on the missus.

Gil's eyes widen and he leans in, hissing: ] Did you just--?!

[Kenzi feigns surprise at the chaos but quickly turns back to her appetizers. In response to Gil's question she grins over at him and shrugs.]

Do you like shrimp?

[ He grips his hand underneath the table and his gaze hardens. ]

Kenzi! That wasn't funny! You could have hurt someone! [ And he hasn't even asked why she did it yet, almost afraid to know. The couple get taken away from the table, the woman going straight for the ladies' room and her husband shrugging, not sure what just happened. One waiter apologize over and over while the other starts to wipe up the table, careful to mind the glass. ] What was that for?

I made sure the glass would fly too far. [She scowls across the table at him, keeping her voice low, before snagging up another shrimp.]

They wouldn't stop staring, they needed a distraction.

[After a moment she sighs, shoulders sagging a bit.] I'm sorry, I'm ruining everything.

That doesn't mean you should have done that. You scared that woman. [ He frowns, looking past Kenzi to see if the woman's returned yet. They're probably going to leave now...

He sighs, noting the fall of her shoulders. He doesn't want to upset her, but he isn't here to tolerate ridiculous antics either. ] Just... don't do that again.

[Wouldn't, brain stop failing.

She sighs, frowning as she picks at severed fin from one of the shrimp she's eaten.]

Fine.

[She grabs up her glass of wine and drains down a good portion of it. At least if she's drunk her powers won't work as they should. She continues to stare at her glass, rather than look over at Gil. She's making this date horrible and it's probably best to just get it over with as soon as they can now.]

You wanna order yet?

[ He hopes her boss will pay for any damages done tonight... but he would prefer nothing of the sort happen.

He finally cracks open the menu to look at the list as the server makes her round again. ]

... I'll have the veal chop. With the grilled broccoli, thanks. [ And he hands back the menu to the woman. ]

[Kenzi glances over her menu one more time before handing it over.] Parmesan encrusted pork loin and loaded mashed potatoes, for me.

[Once the woman's gone she decides to try the mushrooms. Luckily they're much better than the calamari.]

[ This got awkward and fast. He looks at everything but Kenzi, though he's not paying much attention to the details of the building, the uniforms of the waiters, or anything. He's just trying to distract himself. ]

Uh...

[This was what Kenzi was trying to avoid, but go figure she'd manage to make it happen. She was beginning to wonder why she ever bothered with this date. She could have just not told Gil about the offer and told Xanatos that Gil wasn't up for it. But no...she wanted to try and give Gil a nice evening. Maybe a chance to relax.

But she's screwed that up.

She downs some more wine before going back to the shrimp. She doesn't even look at him as she addresses him.]

Hmm?

[ He's trying to keep an eye on how much wine she's drinking tonight, since she's his responsibility now.

He clears his throat. ]

Are you alright...?

[She hasn't quite finished the glass yet, but it's close. For now she leaves it as is, doesn't bother to refill, and turns to drinking her water for now.]

Yeah, fine.

[ Something is definitely wrong. Was he too harsh? ]
